The VisualCADD Group Gallery
Last Updated Wednesday, July 22, 2004
This Page is devoted to giving the new user and the user who wants to improve productivity, a place to visit and see how experienced users have set up their PC's to create drawings in VisualCADD. It also gives our members the opportunity to display some of their work and for you to see the types of drawings that can be created with VisualCADD. It is not a place to advertise, but a great place to get ideas and see how " the other guy is doing it".
Hal Roenick needs no intro around here. Points.gif is a Screen Shot of
Sequential Text and Write Points to File. Click here for a user-friendly glimpse.

Jerome Nicholas, a landscape architect, uses Adrian Scott's
"Image" program to blend VisualCADD drawings and intricate CorelDraw
graphics into large color presentations that are easily reproduced by simply
replotting. See his example and instructions in this cadcolor.zip
J. R. Reich
uses VisualCADD to prepare finely detailed cave maps. He has been making
cave maps for almost 40 years, progressing from traditional pen and ink
drafting techniques then to Generic CADD, and then to VisualCADD.
Virtually all of a cave map is a freehand drawing based on surveyed control
points. The survey data is generated from another program and is imported
into VisualCADD as a DXF file. The freehand field sketches are then
aligned, scaled, and input with a digitizer tablet. This example
represents a cave from Pennsylvania. For further information contact hrafn@att.net
Mike Mundt uses VisualCADD to design Audio Visual System
diagrams. Mike runs a television production company called New Century
Productions. They operate a small fleet of production trucks that roam
the country televising sports events, political conventions, game shows, talk
shows, and anything else that ends up on TV but doesn't happen conveniently
inside a TV station. The trucks are extremely complex systems crammed
into the confines of an 8' x 53' trailer. Most of the systems are so
large or complex that the drawings are fragmented for printing on B sheets.
However, the drawing of an intercom system he has provided is easier to comprehend as a
complete system so it has been laid out for a D sized sheet. mundt@worldpath.net
Doug Reeves designs and details ground water storage tanks (check out this Design) for one fabricator. He also does design and
analysis calculations, forensic work and detailing for a structural
engineer. His degree is a BS in civil engineering from the University of
Texas at Arlington and has achieved his EIT and has another year under this
engineer's supervision before he can take the PNP exam to obtain his PE
license. Doug uses an interesting
method of adding commands and applications to his VisualCADD
configuration. He keeps things organized by using intuitive 3 Letter
commands to call many of these programs. He has supplied us with a "Zip" file of his configuration for all to view or use. Updated 11/08/01 DReeves37@aol.com
Terry Hynes has submitted a stage plan for the Toyota New Model Introduction from 1997. The Centre In The Square (http://www.centre-square.com) is a 2047 seat multi-purpose venue in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. It is an extremely efficient performing arts space that accommodates everything from Opera to the sort of thing detailed in this drawing. The brown (orange) boxes that you see in the lower left, right, and upper right of the drawing are 7 ton, 3 level towers that move on air casters. Needless to say, pre-planning is helpful when it comes to placing these units. The two sections of stage closest to the audience (bottom of the drawing) are actually lifts that raise and lower on screw jacks. In theatre type setups, these areas have seats on them giving us an additional 8 rows of audience seating. In most setups, this part of the stage is bordered by 4 stage towers (the 7 ton units) on each side. They act as box seats in that sort of configuration. Terry has done some very simple configuring of VisualCADD. Read about his configuration here.
Marc
Anglaret is an Architect
in Normandy, France. His company uses VisualCADD to produce drawings,
then exports them in a DXF format to Corel Draw to create realistic looking
renderings. This project is a guesthouse, shop, and restaurant at the
entrance of a ZOO in Normandy. You can view the VCD
file to see what is exported from VisualCADD, and see his finished product in JPG
format. A very interesting and creative method to create a very effective
presentation.
Marc creates his drawings on a PC with this hardware configuration:
300 MHZ - 192 RAM - Iomega back up - Ethernet Network - 21" Monitor
- Programmable keyboard 124 keys - AGP nb 9.

Greg Downing works for North American
Theatrix. They design,
build and install sound, lighting and rigging systems for theaters and other
venues. They have done 4 baseball stadiums, 2 arenas, several churches
and some schools as well. View a few of the drawings that
Greg normally does using VisualCADD as his primary platform. These
include riser (signal flow) diagrams, steel support structures for the speakers, elevations so that the client will understand what the finished product will look
like and Equipment Rack drawings so that everyone on the project agrees that
the right equipment is in the right place before they build the rack. gdowning@natheatrix.com
Anthony Ferrer is a theatrical production manager and technical
director, currently working in the field of special events. He also does
some drafting for stage set designers. This is a part of a drawing for a
children's theater tour of The Box Car Children, designed by Vaughn
Patterson. The first link is to a jpg
of the drawing, and the second one to download the vcd
file.
If you would like
to submit your configuration or a sample of your creations, please write a
description of your work, attach them to an E-mail and send them in. It would be prudent to put GALLERY
in the subject line.
